RhoPure™ disposable cartridges contain a demineralizing filter media. They are ideal for demineralizing fill or make up water for hydronic systems. The quality of water, especially when required to be mixed with glycol, can have an impact on system performance.
RhoPure™ disposable cartridges contain a demineralizing filter media. They are ideal for demineralizing fill or make up water for hydronic systems. The quality of water, especially when required to be mixed with glycol, can have an impact on system performance. Poor or marginal water quality with high hardness, sulfates and chlorides, will accelerate the breakdown of glycol resulting in production of organic acids and pH decline. This will in turn lead to scaling, sediment deposits, accumulation of sludge and increased corrosion rates of system metals.
RhoPure™ demineralizer removes ions from the water used for filling hydronic systems. The 2-component mixed bed resin provides reliable, full demineralization that removes lime scale and corrosive salts from water. The resulting water contains negligible amounts of calcium, magnesium, sulfates and chlorides among other sludge or corrosion causing ions.
OPTIONAL RhoPure™ Meter
RhoPure™ Meter designed for use with the RhoPure™ demineralizing cartridges. The meter measures flow rate, total volume and conductivity (TDS or microsiemens). RhoPure™ Meter features a red LED which illuminates when the programmable conductivity limit is exceeded. The RhoPure™ Meter allows the demineralizing cartridge to be used multiple times before it is spent.
The RhoPure™ cartridge is connected in series with the system. Local domestic water is run through the cartridge (then through the optional RhoPure™ Meter if available) into the system, the water is demineralized, meeting fill water specifications of glycol and boiler manufacturers.
It is also possible to demineralize an existing “water only” system by circulating the system water through RhoPure™ demineralizing cartridge. If the RhoPure™ cartridge is used to demineralize the water of an existing system it needs to be used in conjunction with the RhoPure™ conductivity and flow meter in order to know when the cartridge is spent.
The capacity of the RhoPure™ demineralizing cartridges depend on the total hardness of the incoming local domestic water. The capacity graph (on the front page) displays the relationship between total hardness and demineralizing capacity of the cartridges. Total hardness of 11.7 grains per gallon (200 ppm), the RhoPure™ 300 provides 92 gallons (see A) and RhoPure™ 1000 provides 264 gallons (see B) of completely demineralized water.
For the RhoPure™ 300, the filter media changes color from blue to beige when spent. An optional RhoPure™ conductivity and flow meter may be used to monitor the status of the RhoPure™ 1000 & RhoPure™ 300. Red LED illuminates when programmable conductivity is exceeded.
The resin from the RhoPure™ cartridge must not enter the heating system. Before each use, check the retention sieves on both sides of the cartridge. The RhoPure™ cartridge must always be monitored while in use. It is recommended to do a test run of the system and purge the oxygen and carbon dioxide gases that are normally present in tap water.
The RhoPure™ cartridge is not for demineralizing drinking water. Never open the RhoPure™ cartridge. Filter resin must not come in contact with the eyes. In case of contact with the eyes, rinse cautiously with plenty of water. No long term unattended use under pressure.
*NOTE: To ensure long term corrosion protecion of system metals, we recommend adding Rhomar Water corrosion inhibitors, Pro-Tek® , BoilerGard™ or inhibited glycols to the demineralized fill water. The pH of the heat transfer fluid also need to be adjusted to that recommended for the system.
